Emil Naula (Sweden) presents in Unidirectional a personal reflection of the socially constructed gender roles of today.

In contrast to his usual practice of a topic simplification, he decided to digs into and specific idea dismantling and embroiling the concept of “two-sex-society”.

While in his artwork he shows a perspective on these gender stereotypes, he also presents more tangible examples of what he sees as a problem in the traditional subordination of the female gender today.

Artist statement

My passion is to use the language of art to communicate, visualize and simplify serious and complicated matters in a different way.

The installations, sculptures and images that I create usually reflect my political science and journalism studies, combined with an inevitable connection to my roots in Sweden, a parallel influence that can be perceived in my artworks without any doubt.
