Open Call to write, edit and publish an original text in small or medium format (sheet, fanzine, comic, magazine, booklet …) Call deliberately open to all types of writings and editings.

Hangar and La Escocesa offer:

-A studio in the 250 x 250 cm wooden cabin* located in Hangar’s garden, with access to common spaces ( bathroom, kitchen). Minimum stay of two weeks and maximum of six months. If the selected person does not live in Barcelona, it’s possible to stay in a room in Hangar residence. In such a case, it must be specified in the project.
-A publication in small or medium format: sheet, fanzine, comic, magazine, booklet, etc. The number of copies of the publication will vary depending on the project. Printing will take place in La Escocesa, in a Riso digital printer with 4 rolls (blue, red, black, fluorescent pink). Production and manipulation will be the responsibility of the author with the support of a technical advisor. The publication will have its on-line version.
-1000€ fees that will be paid at the end of the project.

Selection criteria:
Based exclusively on the quality of the texts presented and the motivation letter. Professional career or curriculum vitae won’t be taken into consideration.
There are no age or nationality restrictions.

Selection Committee:
Formed by one member of Hangar’s programme committee, two members of Hangar’s staff, two members of La Escocesa.

Applicants must submit:
– a text explaining the project that will be completed during the residency, specifying if there are more people involved in the tasks of writing, editing and designing the publication.
– the working calendar.
– a previous text (published or not).
– a motivation letter.

*There is no restriction on the publication language but application texts must be written in Spanish, Catalan or English.
**No explanations will be given about the reasons why projects have not been selected.
***The selection committee will be able to conduct interviews with those applicants if it’s considered it necessary.

Commitments:
– To do a public presentation.
– To publish the text in a free license.
– To be part of the selection committee for the next call.
– To include La Escocesa and Hangar logo in the publication.
