Antonia Rossi Charnes was born in Rome, Italy in 1978 and lived there until 1988, when she travels to Chile.
In 1996 she enters the University to study the career of film making. Finishing these studies she obtains a Masters Degree in Visual Arts.
She has worked as an artist and audiovisual maker since 1999, directing four shortfilms and three experimental documentaries.
In 2002 she forms part of the Chilean artistic collective, O-inc, developing performance videos and various exhibitions in Chile and internationally .
The proyect she has been devoping over the past few years, through experimental films and plastic arts, is understood as a research on the quality of images and their capacity of creating alternative moments, different from those proposed commomly, as well as, their capacity of creating different and unpredictable stages. It is necessary to explain, consequently, that every time she undertakes a project that refers to time, invariably, she will see, as a consequence, a natural reaction: the manifestation of what we call memory, in terms of, both, the actualization of the perception and its function as an archive.
In order to develop her projects, she has tried different types of research, not only the ones mentioned above. To the articulation of resources, that she continues to repeat, she adds the collection of information, the intervention and the recomposition of her own and foreign archives. These include diaries, photographs, videos, drawings, sounds, and collages that will constitute the imaginary textile that she will undertake .
For the recollection of these materials she will begin a documentary process which will include the following of the experiences, the memories and the imaginary of the group she will work with, givng rise, finally, to a film.
