In the framework of her residency at La Escocesa, we are glad to receive Hannah and Mary. It will be a pleasure to comment with them the last works they'd been working on and the importance of her stay in Barcelona. A collaboration with Islington Mill and Experimentem amb L'ART.

Hannah Leigthon - Boyce graduated from MA at Manchester School of Art in 2012. Her Recent exhibitions include, The Manchester Contemporary (Castlefield Gallery); Cloth & Memory{2}, Salts Mill, West Yorkshire; The Frost Art Museum Online Drawing Project, Miami.

The centre of her work is an enquiry into the way we experience time and place. She often makes site based works in response to multi-sensory ‘moments of encounter’ with a site, or are triggered through research, found objects and narratives. Notions of presence, absence and liminality are central in her work and through which she explores of how to make ‘visible’ those ‘moments’ through the play between ideas, materiality and process.

Mary Stark is an artist, filmmaker and photographer based at Rogue Studios in Manchester, UK. She is studying a practice as research PhD investigating how the materiality of film might be further emphasised through exploring the relationship between film and textiles.  Recent shows include Mono No Aware exhibition of Expanded Cinema, New York. Her practice is led by hands on exploration of analogue film as a sculptural material. She is interested in the physical photographic nature of film, as a measurement of time and space, and an ephemeral projection of light and sound. With an interdisciplinary background in textiles, the moving image and photography, her work has developed into sculptural objects, photographic prints, installation and performance.
